Next Clinic:

The next Seattle-North clinic is Thursday, September 1. Planned topics include: (1) review of the WHO RR show; (2) a short video of Union Pacific Frontier Days with the newly restored 844 FEF-3 steam locomotive; and (3) another video on Model Locomotive Maintenance. Also, if time allows, we’ll do another in our fallen flag mini-clinic series.

Last Clinic:

Our previous clinic was May 5 and included a short overview of Mexican railroads. We were also treated to a recruiting pep talk by the 4D membership chair. Thom K shared an audio-visual presentation on “Urban Transit” done by Dave Honan for Winter Rail. Dave was unable to attend in person as he has in the past, but we appreciate his making this piece available. You can check out more of his railroad-related photography on his website, davehonan.com.

Several nice models were available for show & tell:

  1. Bob R had two HO bunk houses on skids to which he had added interiors, and he also showed some kit-bashed company houses.
  2. Stu R brought a couple of N scale buildings.
  3. Sharon R had a beautifully weathered 1:32 scale hopper carrying real coal. She says she only pulls it behind live steam.
  4. Geoff S showed a very nicely done 1:20 scale, 3-foot gauge, 28 foot boxcar based on a Nevada Central prototype.

Directions: We meet at the Ronald United Methodist Church, 17839 Aurora Avenue North, Shoreline, WA. That is on the west side of Aurora (State Route 99) between 175th and 185th Streets and more specifically, between the Cadillac dealer on the south and Deseret Industries to the north. Going southbound on Aurora, make a right-hand turn into the church driveway immediately after passing the Deseret location. The parking lot is at the rear of the church. From the lot go up the steps to the main entrance. Once inside, the room where we meet is on your left.

Additional information, including a map, is available by clicking here.

Meetings are the first Thursday of each month, usually September to May. In June we often do something different, so there is no “regular” meeting. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the program will start at 7:30.

Remember the next regular evening meeting is September 1, 2016. The next clinic after that will be October 6. Hope to see you there or at least sometime on down the line.
