Next Clinic:

The next Seattle-North clinic is this Thursday, February 4. The program will be a sort of potpourri. The series on fallen flags will continue, a brief report on the recent Pacific Science Center show will be given along with a discussion of the likely nature of future shows, and there will be a short follow-up on modelling winter railroading.

Prior Clinic:

Last clinic we viewed the “Choo Choo Christmas” DVD which was original scheduled for December. Dennis T then gave a demonstration of sound decoders in N scale, using a SP cab forward, a S2 diesel switcher, and a mechanical refrigerator. To my old ears anyway, the steam locomotive sounded pretty good. Much like the HO sound systems of 10 or so years ago. Technology is enabling better and better sounding speakers in smaller and smaller packages.

The reefer was pretty cool [pun intended]. It just sits there and you forget about it, but periodically you can hear the compressor for the refrigeration unit come on.

Also, the Mart was back. This time featuring some pristine On30 equipment.

Directions: We meet at the Ronald United Methodist Church, 17839 Aurora Avenue North, Shoreline, WA. That is on the west side of Aurora (State Route 99) between 175th and 185th Streets and more specifically, between the Cadillac dealer on the south and Deseret Industries to the north. Going southbound on Aurora, make a right-hand turn into the church driveway immediately after passing the Deseret location. The parking lot is at the rear of the church. From the lot go up the steps to the main entrance. Once inside, the Fireside room where we meet is on your left.

Meetings are the first Thursday of each month, usually September to May. In June we often do something different, so there is no “regular” meeting. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the program will start at 7:30.

Remember the next regular evening meeting is February 4, 2016. The meeting after that will be March 3. Hope to see you there or at least sometime on down the line.
