Opportunity Knocks in Snoqualmie at the NW Railway Museum

Russ Segner, 4D Superintendent

There is a lot going on at the Northwest Railway Museum even though it is the off-season. There is exciting and big work happening and this is an opportunity to get involved. Several of us in the 4th Division are already involved – in particular Ken Liesse and Mike Donnelly.

The Museum is going to start construction on the Railway Education Center this spring. We are restoring the Combination Coach 272 giving it a water tight roof and a new floor section. We are switching to a 2-hour train schedule for the upcoming season and excursions will include stops at the Train Shed for all passengers to wander through.

HO Layout Moving Sale in Sedro-Woolley

Roger Johnson

A hoped for move to smaller quarters this spring meant dismantling a moderately large HO scale layout and I’m now selling thirty plus years’ accumulation of model railroad gear. This includes locomotives, freight cars (RTR and kits), structures (complete and kits), passenger cars, cabooses (RTR and kits), vehicles, decoders, electronics, and track. Please email me (Roger Johnson) at skagitrailbird@gmail.com for a detailed listing.

In the spreadsheet list you will see there are far too many items to photograph everything but I will be happy to provide pictures of specific items upon request. If you are unable to come to the Sedro Woolley area I will ship via a mutually agreed upon method at buyer’s expense (actual cost). Payment may be made by check or cash. What doesn’t sell before February 26th will be going to the United Northwest Monroe train show and swap meet on February 27th and 28th.

Thank You to PSC Volunteers

David Yadock

Jeff Moorman and I, along with the 4th Division, would like to thank all the volunteers that came out on MLK weekend to help with the Pacific Science Center Model Train Show. The public had a great time at the show. There were over 12,000 people that attended the show over the three days. Listed below are all those that helped or were part of the show. I know this is not a complete list and I apologize if your name is not listed. Again, your help
with the show is much appreciated.

Tacoma Clinic Report

Al Babinsky

Due to the fact that I had a number of things going on this report is very late and short. MMR Gene Swanson opened the first clinic of the year on time; we had no first timers. An announcement was made about the science center show which by now is behind us. Mid-winter rail, a multimedia show will be held in Corvallis, OR on March 19th and is about 1:1 railroading. Paul Vaughn completed his 50th year as a NMRA member.

First Eastside Get Together Clinic Held in Redmond

Russ Segner / Photos by Brian Pickering

Scary BN snowplow

Last Thursday, the Eastside Get Together clinic met for the first time at the Redmond library. Over thirty of us got through the traffic and rain to enjoy a program presented by Brian Pickering on structures and snow fighting equipment use by railroads to keep the tracks clear. To say the least, railroads were very creative. There was some very unusual equipment.

Our new location at the library features great parking and a very nice meeting room. Our new Eastside Get Together clinic leader Dave Cook had already organized setting up the chairs and tables by the time I arrived.
