The Program

You will be a big part of the program as we all participate in “What I did this summer.” Whether it involved model railroading or full scale, live railroading – share what you did this summer to keep your hand in the game. Bring JPGs or PowerPoint Slides on a pen drive. Ted will have his laptop booted up.

Al Carter will put on a Painting Primer to help us get in the mood for the next month’s airbrushing clinic. He’ll cover rattle cans, techniques and open the floor to questions and open discussion on anything painting related.

Tool Time

We encourage attendees to bring models for “show and tell” – show us what you’re working on, even if it is not complete. If you have a tool or gadget that you have found useful, bring it along and share it with us.

We also encourage folks to bring along items for sale or swap, or even “freebies” – we’ll have a table for those items.

Around the Curve

October 13: Rich Blake from the Oak Harbor Clinic will lead the Clinic in the much anticipated Introduction to Air Brushing.

We will also discuss ideas for Clinics for the rest of the year. Recall that a number of ideas were floated at our last clinic in May: Weathering with an Air Brush; kit building with progress reports each month; Bob Stafford, Road Master with the BNSF to talk about his duties in Bellingham.

For other NMRA events in the area please refer to the 4th Division Grab Iron, online at https://4dpnr.com. If you would like to subscribe to the Grab Iron, go to https://4dpnr.com/grab-iron-overview/.

Pre-Clinic Dinner

For those interested in extra socializing over a bite to eat before the Clinic, we have arranged pre-Clinic, no host, dinners. Bring your NMRA Membership card and get a 20% discount! Attached is a Google Map link for the Chuckwagon Drive-in, 800 North 4th Street, Mt Vernon.

Arrival & Entry

As a courtesy to the other attendees, please try to arrive before 7:00. If you are unavoidably late, please enter quietly without interrupting the proceedings. We are not permitted to have the main Northeast entry door unlocked nor are we permitted to prop it open. Entry is through the rear door at the Southwest corner of the building which is kept open in the evening. A sign will be posted at the correct door (there is another rear door on the West side).

Sponsorship

The Mt. Vernon Model Railroad Clinic is a NMRA sanctioned event. The 4th Division of the Pacific Northwest Region of NMRA provides funding of operating budgets for clinics in the division including ours. Thus, NMRA membership is heartily encouraged. If you are not quite ready to sign up for a full membership, you might want to try the 6-month Rail Pass trial membership for only $9.95. It includes 6 months of NMRA Magazine, plus all regular member benefits (except voting). Please let Ted Becker or Roger Johnson know if you wish to join NMRA.
