Come join us on Groundhog Day for the February clinic at 7pm PST. Even if Punxsutawney Phill predicts we will have six more weeks of winter, we will always have model trains, right?

This month we will have guest clinician, James Knabb, a modeler from the great state of Texas, presenting 3D Pen and Small Details.

James will walk through the basics of how to use a 3D pen and show how you can use a 3D Pen for your layout, such as using it to repair railings for cars and adding small details. He will also discuss incorporating left-out, forgotten details and new ideas into your layout using a 3D Pen.

Jack Christensen’s Great Railroad Paintings and Their Stories

On January 21st, 2023 the PNRA, NPRHA and Highline Heritage Museum will hold an in-person and Zoom presentation by Jack Christensen of ten of his most loved railroad paintings from 1:00 to 2:00 pm PST. This will be followed by the signing of his recently updated book “Tales of the Northern Pacific” and some of Jack’s painting prints available that day. The signing will be held at Highline Heritage Museum in Burien and is a rare opportunity to have your book copies and painting prints personally autographed from 2:00 to 3:00 pm PST. The event is free and open to the public.

January Whidbey Clinic – Modular Operations Evolution with JMRI

Rich Blake will present a ZOOM clinic on Wednesday 11 JAN 2023, 7:00pm about using Java Model Railroad Interface (JMRI) Operations Pro to support modular operations. JMRI has a very capable operations feature that provides a great deal of variety to support modular operations. One of the issues with modules, especially a point-to-point layout such as our Pacific Northwest On30 Module Group layout, is that the layout constantly changes for each event with positioning of modules, inventory of cars/locomotives and the underlying requirement to keep things moving all the time. JMRI makes attacking modular operations relatively easy and keeps crews busy for entire weekends. This clinic Rich will describe how the general operations scheme has evolved for the PNW On30 Group and share ideas that can be used to create JMRI operations car forwarding for any layout.

Modeling Tank Cars presentation at the Seattle North End Clinic Thursday, January 5 at 7pm PST

Happy New Year!

Come join us Thursday night for the first Seattle North End clinic of 2023. This month our clinician is 4D superintendent, Bill Messecar, MMR.

The title of his clinic is Modeling Tank Cars. It will cover the history of tank cars starting at the beginning of the 20th century to the mid-1950s. Bill will also review HO tank car models in the last 10-15 year, as well as placards.
