You may notice the “visual look” of the Grab Iron e-mail notifications has changed, and if you click on the “read more” link you may notice that the 4DPNR website look has changed as well.

Welcome to the new 4th Division website!

(Note – “4dpnr.org” and “4dpnr.com” are now both pointing to the new website. It’s possible, however, that the transition hasn’t made it everywhere in the Internet and if you visit “4dpnr.org” you will be seeing the old website. You may also want to “refresh” your browser.)

Why did we update the 4th Division website?

The reasons include:

  • Modernize the “look and feel” of the website with a consistent style across all of the pages.
  • Modernize the usability across multiple devices:
    • The website displays well on desktop computers, smartphones, tablets, and any device that can browse web pages; more importantly the web site recognizes and adjusts for the screen size and presents the information accordingly. On your phone or tablet navigate to 4dpnr.com and try it out!
    • The website works on multiple browsers and operating systems, including Windows, Apple iOS, Android, Linux, etc.
  • Increase the visual interest and “eye candy” on the website with more photos and videos. There are many excellent layouts in the 4th Division and we want to show them off.
  • Allow multiple people to concurrently manage information on the 4D website. While this doesn’t affect anyone reading information on the website, I can’t emphasize enough how important this is for the 4D volunteers that produce and manage 4D information. Now multiple people (with appropriate login credentials) can update pages on the website without having to funnel updates through one person. For example this will allow Kevin to coordinate our photo gallery page while Al updates our Achievement Program page while another volunteer manages our (future) discussion forum. All while our various Grab Iron authors continue to create Grab Iron posts.
  • Provide a better foundation to increase and improve communications across the 4th Division. This website update started out as a simple upgrade of our existing website, but Russ Segner steered us into thinking of the bigger picture – how can we use the website to better communicate and provide more services within our Division? Over the next few months we will be implementing new features through the 4D website and will announce them through Grab Iron posts.
  • Administrative and budget reasons (mostly of concern to the 4D Board and Officers – create a 4D owned web hosting account, consolidate web hosting, consolidate domains, etc).

Many people have been helping in various ways on this website update and I want to give a strong thanks to Kevin Klettke, Al Lowe, Dave Kreitler, and our 4th Division Superintendent Russ Segner.

Now … navigate to the 4DPNR home page and feel free to explore.
