The work on the new HVAC System at the Foss Waterway Seaport (FWS, at 705 Dock Street, Tacoma, WA) has been completed over the “Rails Meet Sails Exhibit”, and we have received word that we can proceed with the completion of our exhibit. We are building an HO scale model of the Northern Pacific’s “Half Moon Yard” that is located across the street from the FWS. We are also building a G scale layout that visitors to the FWS can use to demonstrate their switching abilities.
We are still needing help! To expedite the construction process:
- Work parties at your convenience
- Some projects can be done at home!
- We have light construction
- Model building
- HO and G scale layouts on which to work
Specifically:
- Work weekdays, days or evenings (and weekends in April)
- We have some tools and supplies or bring your own
- We are modifying access to the HO layout
- Help put finishing touches on the G Scale layout
- Help build an 0-6-0-T (using wood, metal and plastic)
- Construct a visitor’s viewing platform for the HO layout
- Put finishing touches on general exhibits
- Train to be a Docent
Help us tell the Northern Pacific Railway story of when “Rails Met Sails”, and Tacoma became the Western terminus for the railroad. There are several displays that need work and photos that must be captioned and mounted. Thank you for any and all of the assistance you may be able to provide.
