The December gathering of the East Side Get Together Clinic at the Redmond Community Center was started promptly at 7:15 Thursday evening by Alex Brikoff. VIPs in attendance (4D PNR Officers and Master Model Railroaders) were introduced.
The Pacific Science Center Train Show is at the Seattle Center during Martin Luther King Day weekend on January 18 through 21. Volunteers are NEEDED and are asked to contact David Yadock for more information and scheduling. More details will appear in the Grab Iron as they become available.
The March 2019 East Side Get Together Clinic will be our Mini-clinic Event called “How I do Stuff on my Layout”. It will be a series of ten-minute presentations of favorite modeling methods presented by members and attendees of the Eastside Clinic. Three of six slots are already taken, so we need three more volunteers to round out the evening. The signup sheet will be at the clinic through February.
The winning Model of the Month was a tie between an early Japanese brass On3 narrow gauge K-28, the prototype of which is currently on the Durango and Silverton and a HO Union Pacific steam turbine, a retired prototype on display at the Ogden, Utah museum.
The evening’s program was our annual Christmas Dirty Santa “Gift Exchange”. Model of the Month winner gets first pick. Subsequent “pickers” names are drawn one at a time from the door prize name jar. The interesting twist is that people can “steal” previously picked gifts up to two times whereby the “stealee” gets to pick another gift from the remaining gifts. A fun time was had by all and some very interesting gifts were exchanged.
The next meeting of the Eastside Get Together Clinic will be on January 17, 2019 at the same location. Our clinician will be Ted Becker from Mt. Vernon. Ted will be presenting his informative and entertaining “Ted’s Tub of Tricks, Tips and Tools”.
Later in January, the South End Group will return to their fourth Thursday of the Month meetings after a holiday hiatus. Their meeting in January will be Thursday, 01/24/2019 in Burien. It will be at the Northwest Railroad Archives storefront adjacent to the Boeing Model Railroaders’ layout on 153rd street, a couple blocks from the Electric Train Shop.
