Tuesday July 12th is our next 4th Division Westside Clinic. For our newcomers the clinic is held at the United Way of Kitsap Building in downtown Bremerton (647 4th Street) at 7:00 PM. Additional details (including a map and contact info) are on the Clinics Page.

I’m hoping Jack will be back and rested from the Convention and can share.

For those who haven’t heard, we unexpectedly lost another member of our group last week. Dan Reilly lost his battle to cancer.

Steve Hauff has agreed to do another of his great presentations: “Slim Gauge Diesels”. He will be presenting it at the NMRA National Convention in Indianapolis next month.

Steve Neupert suggested we do a “Bring Your Favorite …” Everyone bring your favorite model railroading thing to share and talk about. Preferably one you haven’t shared before – freight cars, locomotives, passenger cars, tools, etc.

I apologize for not having anything planned, but my mind has been elsewhere.

For those who haven’t heard, we unexpectedly lost a member of our group last week. Paul R Neumann passed away in his sleep. I have been working with his family to figure out what they are going to do with his model trains and train photographs.

Therefore I’m not sure what we will be doing yet. Any Ideas? As always refreshments will be provided.

The next Westside Clinic is Tuesday January 12th, 2016. I will not be at this month’s clinic. Jack Hamilton has graciously agreed to run the clinic this month. He will also be presenting this month’s clinic “How to use your volt/ohm meter”. This is part of our new series of clinics on “The Road to MMR”.

Last month Walt Huston presented his “Hands-on” clinic on weathering. We also had our White Elephant gift exchange and annual food bank drive.

Westside December Clinic is Tuesday the 8th

The Westside Clinic is tomorrow Tuesday December 8th, 2015. Last month Jack Hamilton presented a clinic on basic wiring.

This month’s clinic: Weathering Rolling Stock. Walt Huston is coming up to present his hands-on clinic on weathering.

This is our White Elephant gift exchange and annual food bank drive. For those of you who are new, our White Elephant exchange consists of you wrapping a model railroading related item for exchange; old or new; useful or not; Give one get one.

As always we will have a “Model Contest” and “Show And Tell.” Coffee and cookies will be provided. Please come and bring a friend.

Westside Clinic October Report

October’s Westside Clinic was one of the best in a long time. Eight long time participants – Jack Hamilton, Reed Cranmore, Steve Neupert, Tom Brittell, Jim Byerley, Pete Rowe, John Pichler, and I (Bill Hupé) – were joined by first timers Mike Hunt and Bob Wojcikowski.

As Clinic Chair I welcomed the new members. Both Mike and Bob are long time modelers who have been out of the hobby and looking forward to learning what is new in the hobby. When they stopped working on their railroads, mountains were made out of papier–mâché and rock faces were hand carved from Hydrocal®. John mentioned he was in the same place.
