In Search of HOn3 Code 55 Turnouts

Syd Schofield

I’m looking for some HOn3 code 55 turnouts or turnout kits. I thought Micro Engineering made them at one time but if so, not anymore. There are a few kits out there which is some help rather than starting from scratch. The alternative is the Micro Engineering N-scale code 55 kits which will only need some additional rail and gauging (which has to be done anyway). I’ve built some code 70 turnouts using the printed circuit board ties on a home-built fixture, so I’m familiar with the process. Any ideas? E-bay has a couple as a last resort.

So others can see your reply please comment at the bottom of this article, or e-mail your message to gi_editor@4dpnr.com and Cliff (Grab Iron editor) will create a comment for you.

HO Layout Remaining Items For Sale in Sedro-Woolley

Roger Johnson

Thanks to many of you who responded to my earlier Grab Iron ad and to many more who bought some of my things at the United Northwest Monroe train show and swap meet on February 27th and 28th. But there are still a fair number of things left that I do not want to move to a smaller house. Included are more than fifteen RTR locomotives (some with decoders installed), many freight cars (RTR and kits), structures (both complete and kits) and much more. I have revised my inventory lists to remove items recently sold and those not presently for sale and (best of all) to reflect new lower prices on most items. Please email me (Roger Johnson) at skagitrailbird@gmail.com for a detailed listing.

HO Layout Moving Sale in Sedro-Woolley

Roger Johnson

A hoped for move to smaller quarters this spring meant dismantling a moderately large HO scale layout and I’m now selling thirty plus years’ accumulation of model railroad gear. This includes locomotives, freight cars (RTR and kits), structures (complete and kits), passenger cars, cabooses (RTR and kits), vehicles, decoders, electronics, and track. Please email me (Roger Johnson) at skagitrailbird@gmail.com for a detailed listing.

In the spreadsheet list you will see there are far too many items to photograph everything but I will be happy to provide pictures of specific items upon request. If you are unable to come to the Sedro Woolley area I will ship via a mutually agreed upon method at buyer’s expense (actual cost). Payment may be made by check or cash. What doesn’t sell before February 26th will be going to the United Northwest Monroe train show and swap meet on February 27th and 28th.

JJ Johnston Layout For Sale on Jan 23

JJ Johnston

This is your chance to buy model railroad stuff at seriously reduced prices. After 17 years, my well known HO scale Puget Sound Iron Goat Railway has been taken down. Patt and I are moving. So, 120 built Jordon vehicles from the 30’s, Preiser people, foreground trees, rolling stock, lanterns, plaques, craftsman building kits, award winning finished structures, detail parts, logging kits, vehicle building kits, hard to find kits and lots of other cool stuff will be offered.

The date is this Saturday, January 23. Doors will be open from 11:00 am to 4 pm. Bring your own shopping bag and your GPS. My home is hard to find – 15808 SE 45th St, Bellevue, 98006, which is south of I-90 and just east of I-405. Parking is easy and everything is on one level. My layout has been featured in the Narrow Gauge Gazette several times and Railroad Model Craftsman gave me a cover and story in October 2011.

This is a “Mr. Magoo” Sale. “Model Railroaders – Make A Good Offer, Okay.”

HO Scale Layout For Sale

Larry Sloan

LayoutForSale0

I am posting a layout for sale on behalf of my friend Dan Vencill. It is HO scale with code 100 rail. Dan and his wife are looking to move and he needs to sell his layout and rolling stock. It’s mostly 1930s to 1950s and locos are mostly steam. The layout can come apart in a couple of places. The rolling stock includes two cardboard boxes almost full of Tyco Billboard Cars. Most have not been opened at all and were for a display project Dan never got going.

He’d like $1500 for the whole thing. For more detail email me at larrylsloan@me.com and I will put you in touch with Dan.

4D Members Only: Free Videos

Al Lowe

The 4D Board of Directors met last Saturday and, among other business, decided that the 4D Video Library’s time has come … and gone. Since most of the videos were on VHS tape, they’ve mostly sat in storage for years. It was a great idea in its day.

“But our loss is your gain.” We’re going to offer them for free to any 4D member. Take anything and everything you want for your very own.

All you have to do is email Superintendent Russ Segner before November 11 and specify exactly which titles you’d like. Those not claimed will be disposed of at the Boeing Swap Meet on Saturday, November 14.

Everything is on a “first request, first dibs” basis. So email Russ now.

Free Train Magazines

Jack Reid

I have many magazines that need a new home. Some are boxed by years, but many are loose. I’m happy to give these away to interested individuals but they would also be good for distributing to visitors at train shows and events. The magazines include Lionel, Model Builder, Model Railroader (from early 40’s), some miscellaneous foreign magazines, Live Steam, and Garden Railways.
