Our clinic this month will be presented by David Yadock and is titled “The Use of Mirrors on a Train Layout”.  This will be an informative clinic describing some of the common issues with using mirrors on a layout and then compare them to the correct methods of using mirrors.  David will show lots of examples from his own layout where he uses mirrors in clever ways to give the appearance of large spaces.

Our Clinic this month is titled “Miniatur Wunderland Railway in Hamburg” and will be presented by Magnus Christerson.  The largest model railroad in the world, as certified by Guinness World Records, is Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany. In his clinic, Magnus will guide us on a tour of the layout which he visited in the fall of 2021.  During the tour, he will discuss how it was built, currently operated and future expansion plans.

Our Clinic this month is titled “Dupont – The Dynamite Train” and will be presented by Russ Segner.  Russ will discuss the history and potential modeling opportunities of the DuPont Company’s own narrow-gauge railroad. Built in 1906, it was used to deliver materials and explosives from the old DuPont Powder Works Plant to the pier on Puget Sound.

This month’s clinic is titled is “Lighted Utility Poles: Modeling Lighted Utility Poles on an HO Model Railroad” and will be presented by Paul Rising.  Paul will discuss how he fabricated over 150 lighted utility poles very inexpensively for the PSMRE layout at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma.  Lighted utility poles are an often overlooked scenic feature on many model railroads, so this should be a great clinic that we can all take some ideas away from and apply them to our own modeling projects.

This month’s clinic will be presented by Russ Segner and titled “A Look Back at Rail Served Industrial Buildings in South Seattle”.  This clinic is a follow on to Russ’ clinic recently about north Seattle rail served industrial buildings.  Russ will be using photos from the 70’s as well as Google Earth to look at scenes in south Seattle.  We will look at many building types and interesting trackage layouts for model building ideas.

Our Clinic this month will be “What is a Bow Truss Building and How to Model it” presented by Larry Sloan.   Larry will be introducing us to the bow truss method of supporting roofs on many buildings found in industrial areas serviced by railroads.  Larry will also be discussing his methods of modeling these types of structures on his layout.  If you want to have a unique looking building on your layout, then be sure and see this clinic.

Our Clinic this month will be “A New Strategy to Represent Signals on a Model Railroad” presented by Dan Kellogg.  Dan will be presenting his thoughts and application methods on a new signaling system that has been developed by Model Train Technology of Orlando, FL.  MTT has developed a trackside Precision Detector for N, HO and O scale systems that detects the presence of a train on the track without the use of traditional track detection circuits, magnetic reed switches or infrared light.  The new system will be demonstrated on a module that Dan has built so modelers can decide for themselves whether this signaling system will be appropriate for their layouts.

Dan will state a disclaimer in his presentation:  “This signaling system is certainly not prototypically correct.  But for those who lack that interest and/or ability to implement more sophisticated and prototypically correct systems, the new MTT signaling system will provide a great option for animation and representation of signals on a model railroad.”
