At our November 8 clinic Mark Malmkar will dazzle us with photos and information he gathered while spending 2 weeks on the other side of the world!

The full program for the evening will be:

  • Review of upcoming events and clinics
  • Display your work! We invite everyone to bring model railroad items to display in the Showcase. It can be a completed model, work in progress, new purchase, old favorite, photo, book or any other item model railroad related you would like to share. These will be displayed on the long counter space we now have available.
  • Tool & Tips: If you’ve found a tool or gadget especially helpful, bring it in and share the benefits with the group.
  • Build Contest: Bring your entry forms … and bring your projects for the build contest. Let’s see who’s doing what!
  • Clinic Topic: Russian Railroads and Railroad Museums

    • From Photo to Backdrop – an Introduction to Photoshop Elements; by Brian Jacobs and John O’Connell. You’ll be introduced to the possibilities of using the inexpensive little brother of professional photo editing software, Photoshop, to make your own backdrops and interiors.
    • Flexing your track muscles: Al Carter will demonstrate how to improve the appearance of ready to run track, i.e. flex track, sectional track, and ready-made turnouts … all without the use of an airbrush.
  • December 31: Photo submission deadline for Build contest – (target photo)
  • January 10: MV Clinic Topic: Ted’s Tub of Tips, Tricks & Tools: Ted Becker will show us neat stuff with his handy tub, bag and tool box full of useful tricks & techniques to make your modeling day go a lot smoother. He guarantees that you’ll pick up at least one useful trick!
  • January 19-21: Pacific Science Center Model Train Show – 45th Annual Train Show co-sponsored by the 4th Division of the NMRA. Saturday thru Monday, 10:00 – 6:00 each day.
  • Feb. 14: MV Clinic Topic: Mini Clinics
  • Feb. 28: Photo #2 submission deadline for contest (finished project)
  • March 14: MV Clinic Topic Alex Brikoff “Photographing Scale Models with your Cell Phone”
