Over 75 members attended our 4th Division Annual Meeting at Tacoma Community College last Saturday, as part of the Spring Meet. Kurt Laidlaw, our Assistant Superintendent, was in charge of planning the Spring Meet event and put together a fine list of clinics and presenters. We had several first time participants and very positive comments, especially from those attending the “Hands On” clinic (building laser cut structures). Many of the presentations focused on operations for layouts and we can expect to see more layouts use prototype methods in operating sessions.
Thanks to all who shared their experience and knowledge to help us enjoy this special part of model railroading.
A special feature of our Annual Meeting is the recognition of several members for their contributions to the activities and programs of 4th Division. It was my pleasure, as Superintendent, to recognize this year Kevin Klettke, Jeff Moorman and David Yadock. Kevin has provided excellent help with graphics for various programs, designs the Spring Meet web site (multiple years), and helps with the 4D web site and Grab Iron. Jeff and David continue to provide leadership for the annual Pacific Science Center Model Train Show at the Seattle Center.
The highlight of each year’s Annual Meeting is the Golden Grab Iron Award. This year’s Golden Grab Iron Award was presented to Ted Becker for his long and innovative service to the 4th Division. Congratulations Ted.
Thanks again to all who helped make this meeting a success.
